Before you begin

  • Work powered down: park on level ground, switch off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal when handling wiring.
  • Protect the body: tape the painted edge around each lamp opening before removal.
  • Do not force fasteners: if a lamp does not move, look for a remaining bolt or locating pin.
  • No grease on connectors.

Tools and supplies

  • Torx driver set; verify sizes on the vehicle before removal
  • Trim removal tool
  • Clean microfiber towels and masking tape
  • A helper for brake, turn and reverse testing

Remove the original tail lights

  1. Remove the lamp fasteners: the JL tail lamp is held by bolts through the outer face of the body panel. Support the lamp as the last one comes out.

  2. Draw the lamp straight back off its locating pins. Do not lever it against the paint.

  3. Disconnect the wiring: press the lock tab and pull on the connector body, not on the wires.

  4. Compare before fitting: check the RIGNOX lamp against the original for plug position and mounting points.

Install the RIGNOX tail lights

  1. Connect the lamp to the factory connector and confirm the lock tab clicks home.

  2. Test before bolting up: run the function test below with the lamp still loose.

  3. Seat and secure: align the locating pins, check the body gap, then tighten evenly. Do not over-tighten.

  4. Repeat on the opposite side, then reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Electrical and function test

  1. Confirm running lights on both sides.
  2. Confirm brake lights with a helper on the pedal.
  3. Confirm the left and right sequential amber turn signals and hazards.
  4. Confirm reverse lights with the vehicle safely in reverse and the parking brake applied.
  5. Confirm the startup animation on ignition.
  6. Check for dashboard warnings, flicker or hyperflash.

Troubleshooting

  • One lamp does not light: recheck the connector lock, the related fuse and the battery connection.
  • Hyperflash or a dash warning: confirm both sides are wired the same way and every plug is fully seated.
  • Moisture appears: light condensation may clear as the lamp warms; document heavy or persistent moisture with photos.
