Before you begin
- Pick the right adapter first: two harnesses are in the box. Match the one whose plug matches your vehicle connector — do not force a plug that does not seat cleanly.
- Work powered down: park on level ground, switch off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal when handling wiring.
- Protect body panels: tape the painted edges around the bumper cover, fender and hood line.
- No grease on connectors.
Tools and supplies
- Trim removal tool or panel clip tool
- Metric socket and ratchet set; verify sizes on the vehicle before removal
- Phillips screwdriver
- Clean microfiber towels and masking tape
- Zip ties for securing the adapter harness
- A wall or flat vertical surface for beam-pattern checking
Remove the original headlights
Free the front bumper cover far enough to clear the outer edge of the headlight. On the XA50 the lamp is captured behind the cover and the fender liner edge.
Unbolt the headlight and support it as the last fastener comes out.
Disconnect the wiring: press the lock tab and pull on the connector body, not on the wires.
Compare before fitting: hold the RIGNOX lamp against the original and confirm mounting tabs and plug position.
Install the RIGNOX headlights
Fit the correct adapter harness between the vehicle connector and the lamp — the higher-trim set or the mid / base set, whichever seats cleanly.
Test before closing up: confirm low beam, high beam, the white daytime running light with its blue accent, the amber side marker, the sequential amber turn signal and the startup animation.
Seat and bolt the lamp, checking the gap against the fender, hood and bumper cover before tightening.
Secure the harness away from heat, moving parts, water paths and sharp edges, then refit the bumper cover.
Repeat on the opposite side, then reconnect the negative battery terminal.
Electrical and function test
- Confirm low beam and high beam on both sides.
- Confirm the daytime running light and the amber side marker.
- Confirm the sequential amber turn signal and hazards.
- Confirm the startup animation on ignition.
- Check for dashboard warnings, flicker or hyperflash.
- Verify beam aim against a flat vertical surface.
Troubleshooting
- A function does not work: confirm you fitted the adapter harness that matches your trim, seated at both ends.
- Hyperflash or a dash warning: confirm both sides use the same harness and every plug is fully seated.
- The lamp will not sit flush: check for a trapped harness behind the housing rather than forcing the bolts.
- Moisture appears: light condensation may clear as the lamp warms; document heavy or persistent moisture with photos.
