Installation reference images
Before you begin
- Vehicle: 2021-2023 Ford F-150 tail light installation.
- Choose the correct variant before installing: XL/XLT Base is for original halogen trucks without BLIS. XLT/Lariat Mid and Platinum/King Ranch/Limited versions are BLIS-compatible configurations and are not interchangeable with the base version.
- Tail Lamp Heat note: This product does not support Tail Lamp Heat. Confirm the vehicle equipment before installation.
- BLIS caution: If your truck has BLIS, handle the original blind-spot module carefully and reinstall it as shown in the reference images.
Remove the original tail lights
- Park safely and power down: Park on level ground, turn the vehicle off, and open the tailgate.
- Remove tail light retainers: Remove the original tail light fasteners at the bedside/tailgate opening. Support the lamp so it does not drag across the painted bedside.
- Pull the lamp straight rearward: Release the locating pins by pulling the lamp straight back. Do not pry against painted body panels.
- Disconnect the original connector: Press the lock tab and pull by the connector body.
- For BLIS-equipped trucks: Disconnect and transfer the original blind-spot module only as required by the matched RIGNOX configuration.
Configuration and harness check
- Base halogen / no BLIS reference: The low/base reference identifies the main connector positions as ground, reverse positive, turn positive, driving positive, and brake positive. Use this as a function-check reference, not as permission to cut or repin wiring.
- OEM Mid/High Version 2 reference: Reinstall the blind-spot module and plug the indicated connector into the vehicle's original blind-spot module. The reserved mid-trim blind-spot wire shown with the do-not-plug note should remain disconnected for the configuration shown.
- High trim load note: One reference states that high trim must remove the 50W 8R resistor load. Follow the reference image that matches the back of your original lamp and the RIGNOX harness supplied in your kit.
- High Configuration Original Version 1 reference: The white 2-pin plug is identified as the installation indicator module connection. The reference also shows a connection that is not required because it is already pre-wired.
- 50W 8RJ load resistor note: The Version 1 high-configuration reference states that the 50W 8RJ load resistor must be installed.
- Brake/turn shared-wire note: If the vehicle uses a shared brake/turn signal connection, the reference shows a connector choice for that condition. If lighting is reversed or incorrect after testing, stop and confirm the brake/turn connector orientation before final assembly.
Install the RIGNOX tail lights
- Compare the original lamp to the reference: Before connecting anything, compare the front and back of the original tail light with the reference images for your trim level.
- Transfer BLIS hardware if equipped: Move the original blind-spot module to the RIGNOX lamp when your configuration requires it. Seat the module fully before connecting the harness.
- Connect the main lamp harness: Connect the RIGNOX harness to the original vehicle connector and confirm the lock tab clicks into place.
- Connect trim-specific modules only where shown: Install or remove the load resistor and connect or leave disconnected the reserved plugs according to the matching reference image.
- Secure the harness: Keep all modules, resistors, and connectors away from tailgate movement, sharp bedside edges, water paths, and heat sources.
- Mount the tail light: Align the locating pins, seat the lamp evenly, and reinstall the original retainers without over-tightening.
Electrical and function test
- Test parking/running lights, brake lights, left and right turn signals, hazards, reverse lights, and startup animation if equipped.
- For BLIS-equipped trucks, confirm the blind-spot system does not show a warning after the module is reinstalled and connected.
- If brake and turn signal behavior is reversed or one function does not work, recheck the connector choice shown in the reference before closing the lamp area.
- If a warning, hyperflash, or flicker appears, confirm whether your matching reference requires the load resistor installed or removed.
- After both sides pass testing, reinstall any trim or access panels and perform a final road-light function check.
Troubleshooting
- BLIS warning appears: Recheck that the original BLIS module was reinstalled on the correct lamp side and connected to the original BLIS connector.
- Brake and turn functions are swapped: Recheck the brake/turn shared-wire connector choice shown in the reference images.
- Hyperflash or warning message: Confirm the correct load-resistor instruction for your matching configuration. Version 1 and Version 2 references show different resistor handling.
- One function does not work: Verify the main connector is fully seated and that the harness matches the selected product variant.
