2020-2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty LED Dual Projector Headlights Installation Guide

Step-by-step RIGNOX installation guide for 2020-2022 Ford F-250 Super Duty LED Dual Projector Headlights. Covers factory LED and factory halogen trucks, tools, removal, wiring, function test and troubleshooting.

Important: This guide covers the RIGNOX headlights and their wiring. Bumper, grille and headlight fastener locations, clips and wire routing vary with your truck — confirm them on your own vehicle before removing anything.

Safety warning: Do NOT use dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease on connectors or sockets. Grease can cause connection problems and may affect warranty coverage.

Before you begin

  • Check your factory headlights: Note whether your truck has factory LED headlights or factory halogen (bulb) headlights. The wiring step is different for each, and the adapter harness is only used on halogen trucks.
  • Power and safety: Switch the truck off and remove the key before unplugging any connector. Let the factory headlights cool if they have been on.
  • Protect the paint: Lay towels or masking tape along the bumper, grille and fender edges. Do not pry against painted surfaces.
  • Keep hardware sorted: Bag the screws, bolts and clips from each side separately so they go back in the same places.
  • No connector grease: Do not apply dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease to connectors or sockets.

Tools and supplies

  • Trim removal tool for plastic push clips
  • Metric socket set with an extension, and a ratchet
  • Phillips and flat screwdrivers
  • Towels and masking tape for the bumper and fender edges
  • Zip ties for securing the included harnesses
  • A flat wall for checking beam aim after installation
  • A helper to work the headlight switch and turn signals during testing

Remove the original headlights

  1. Open access to the headlight: Open the hood. Remove the trim, grille fasteners and any covers that sit over the headlight mounting points on your truck. Keep each fastener with its position.
  2. Remove the headlight fasteners: Remove the bolts and screws that hold the headlight to the radiator support and fender. Note where each one came from.
  3. Pull the headlight forward: Ease the headlight straight forward. Do not twist it, or the rear locating tabs can break.
  4. Disconnect the factory connector: Press the lock tab and unplug the factory connector from the back of the headlight. Remove the headlight and repeat on the other side.

Install the RIGNOX headlights

  1. Trucks with factory LED headlights: Plug the 16-pin connector on the RIGNOX headlight directly into the factory headlight connector. No adapter is needed.
  2. Trucks with factory halogen headlights: Connect the included adapter harness between the factory headlight connector and the RIGNOX headlight. It plugs in at both ends — no cutting or splicing. Secure the adapter harness with zip ties away from moving parts and hot components.
  3. Test before you fasten: With the headlight resting in place and connected, switch the lights on and run through the function test below. Only fasten the headlights once both sides work correctly.
  4. Mount the headlight: Set the headlight into the factory position, reinstall the fasteners in their original locations, and check that the gaps to the hood, grille and fender are even. Repeat on the other side.
  5. Reassemble: Reinstall the grille, trim and covers in reverse order.

Electrical and function test

  1. Turn the ignition on and check that the white daytime running light comes on and the startup animation runs on both sides.
  2. Test low beam and high beam on both sides.
  3. Use the turn-signal stalk (not the hazard switch) to test each side: the daytime running light should switch to amber and the turn signal should sweep in sequence.
  4. Confirm there is no flicker, hyperflash or dash warning.
  5. Park facing a flat wall and check the beam aim. Adjust the vertical and horizontal aimers before closing everything up.

Final check

  • All connectors are fully seated and locked.
  • Harnesses are secured away from sharp edges, moving parts, water paths and heat.
  • Both headlights sit evenly with matching gaps to the hood, grille and fender.
  • Every function works on both sides, with no warning lights or hyperflash.
  • Light condensation right after installation is normal and usually clears within about a week of regular driving as the lamp warms up. If water collects inside or the moisture doesn't clear, contact RIGNOX support.

Troubleshooting

  • One headlight does not turn on: Recheck that the connector is fully locked. On halogen trucks, check both ends of the adapter harness.
  • Turn signal flashes fast or a warning appears: Recheck every connector, then see our hyperflash and not-working guides linked below this guide.
  • Beam pattern is too high, low or uneven: Re-seat the headlight, tighten all fasteners, then adjust the aimers.

Before you call it done

After the Install

No DRL plug in your harness? Vehicles that never had daytime running lights need the DRL lead wired to a fuse that switches with the key: how to find the right fuse with a test light, and how to tap it safely.

Aim the low beams before you drive at night; a projector an inch too high blinds oncoming traffic: the 25-foot wall method, and where the adjusters are on this housing.

Fast-blinking turn signals or a bulb-out message after the swap is a load issue, not a fault: how to tell hyperflash from flicker, and what to check first.

A thin mist inside the lens after a cold night is normal on any vented lamp: the automaker rule for fog vs a real leak.
