Before you begin

  • Vehicle/product: 2009-2024 Nissan GTR R35 Sequential LED Tail Lights.
  • SKU check: Confirm your kit SKU or variant matches T-GTR-SW, T-GTR-SRGB before removing original parts.
  • Model-year plug check: Identify which model-year conversion plug matches your car (pre-facelift 2009-2016 vs facelift 2017-2024) before connecting anything.
  • Reference-first workflow: Review the installation reference images on this page before removing trim or connecting wiring. This guide includes confirmed details from the available reference text and images.
  • Power and safety: Switch the vehicle off before unplugging connectors. Disconnect the negative battery terminal when handling wiring, fuse taps, or exposed circuits.
  • Protect the vehicle: Use clean towels or masking tape around painted panels and trim edges. Do not force clips or pry against painted surfaces.
  • No connector grease: Do not apply dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease to connectors or sockets.
  • Rear lamp note: Leave trunk trim open until every lighting function passes testing.

Reference image checkpoints

  • Connector layout: Compare each vehicle connector, adapter harness, and included extension wire with the reference images before powering the RIGNOX tail lights.
  • Harness routing: Route linking harnesses through the indicated grommets or trim paths. Keep wiring away from hinges, latch movement, weather seals, exhaust heat, and sharp sheet-metal edges.
  • Transferred parts: Move brackets, bulb holders, seals, or decorative plates only when the matching reference image shows that transfer.
  • RGB/app variants: Confirm controller power, pairing, mode change, and local road-lighting use before final trim reassembly.

Confirmed reference details

  • Plug-in points: The reference identifies original running-light plug-in, original tail-light plug-in, and a left/right connecting line.
  • RGB-only connecting line: The left/right connecting wire is identified as applying to RGB versions only.
  • RGB control: The reference lists the "STAR LIGHT RUNNING" app/remote functions, including color modes, speed adjustment, and brightness adjustment.
  • Mode change: Confirm the switch from RGB mode to normal mode before final reassembly.
  • Function list: Test brake light, RGB running light, reverse light, and turn signal after connecting both sides.

Tools and supplies

  • Trim removal tool or panel clip tool
  • Metric socket and ratchet set; confirm the exact socket sizes against the reference images before removal
  • Phillips and flat screwdrivers
  • Clean microfiber towels and masking tape for painted trunk and quarter-panel edges
  • Electrical tape and zip ties for securing included harnesses only
  • A helper for brake-light and turn-signal testing

Remove the original tail lights

  1. Remove the trunk trim: Open the trunk, remove the four large trim clips with a trim removal tool, unscrew the small retaining knob by hand, and lift out the foam organizer tray to expose the body panel.

  2. Remove the left-side mounting nuts: Locate the five mounting points on the driver's side. Use an 8 mm socket to remove the three nuts securing the factory taillight assembly and the two nuts securing the upper edge of the rear bumper.

Install the RIGNOX tail lights

  1. Connect and install the new taillight assembly: Connect the new taillight plug to the factory wiring harness. Arrange the wiring neatly, tuck the resistor and harness connectors into the body cavity, and slide the new assembly into position without obstructing the housing. Confirm that the rubber weather seal sits evenly against the body.

  3. Reassemble and test the lights: Push the bumper corners back into position until the retaining clips engage. Reinstall the wheel-well fasteners, diffuser bolts, trunk-side mounting nuts, foam organizer tray, and trunk trim. Test the turn signals, brake lights, and reverse lights before driving.

Electrical and function test

  1. Test parking/running lights, brake lights, left and right turn signals, hazards, reverse lights, and the startup animation.
  2. Confirm the turn signal fires as a sequential sweep on both sides.
  3. For RGB/app variants, confirm controller power, app pairing, normal mode, RGB mode, speed/brightness controls, and the mode required for road use.
  4. After all tests pass, reinstall trim panels and close the trunk slowly to confirm no wire is stretched or pinched.

Final check

  • All connectors are fully seated and locked.
  • All included harnesses are secured away from movement, sharp edges, water paths, and heat sources.
  • Both lamps sit flush with even body gaps, properly seated seals, and no trapped harness under the weather seal.
  • All tail light functions test correctly on both sides with a helper operating the controls.
  • No warning lights, hyperflash, flickering, abnormal heat, moisture entry, or loose modules remain after a short function check.

Troubleshooting

  • One tail light does not turn on: Recheck the main connector, the model-year conversion plug, and any plug-in adapter shown in the reference images.
  • Brake, reverse, running, or turn function is wrong: Stop and compare the conversion plug choice and wire routing with the reference images before moving pins or changing wiring.
  • Warning, flicker, or hyperflash appears: Confirm any included decoder, resistor, or harness adapter is installed exactly for this product and model year.
  • Trim will not sit flush: Check for a trapped harness, misaligned clip, folded weather seal, or incorrect grommet position.
  • RGB/app feature does not respond: Confirm the product variant supports RGB, the left/right connecting line is installed, the controller has power, and the app or remote is paired before closing trim.
