Important: This online guide is a product-image-verified overview for the matched RIGNOX product. It uses the product page, product reference images, and visible lighting-function details to guide product-side checks. Confirm hidden vehicle-side fasteners, trim clips, and wiring access points on your exact vehicle before removal.

Safety warning: Do NOT use dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease on connectors or sockets. Grease can cause connection problems and may affect warranty coverage.

Product image checkpoints

  • The product reference images show direct-fit, plug-and-play style connection details. Match the supplied connector to the vehicle connector and confirm the lock tab seats fully before reinstalling trim.
  • Back-side or plug detail images are available for this item. Compare those photos with the removed original lamp before routing the harness.
  • The visible product-function references indicate running/parking light, brake light, reverse light, sequential turn signal, startup animation checks for this product. Test each supported function before tightening the lamp and closing the access area.
  • If the kit includes a decoder, resistor, control module, or relay, secure it away from heat, moving parts, water paths, and sharp metal edges. Do not add universal electrical parts unless support confirms they are needed.

Product notes

  • Use the product reference images on this page as the product-side visual check for connector layout, rear housing shape, and lighting functions.
  • Original vehicle trim, clip style, and fastener locations can vary by year, trim, and previous repairs. Remove panels slowly and verify each fastener before pulling.
  • Road-lighting compliance and off-road/show-use notes are product specific. Review the matching RIGNOX product page for the exact language for this item.

Before you begin

  • Confirm the exact product: Compare the RIGNOX tail lights to the product reference images, including rear housing, plug layout, lens style, and included modules.
  • Work powered down: Park on level ground, switch the vehicle off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal when handling wiring.
  • Protect body panels: Use clean towels or masking tape near painted edges around the tailgate, trunk, hatch, bed-side access, or cargo trim area.
  • Do not force clips: If a lamp or trim panel does not move, stop and look for another fastener or locating pin.
  • No grease on connectors: Do not apply dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease to connectors or sockets.

Tools and supplies

  • Trim removal tool or panel clip tool
  • Metric socket and ratchet set; verify exact sizes on the vehicle before removal
  • Phillips and flat screwdrivers
  • Clean microfiber towels and masking tape
  • Electrical tape and zip ties for securing included harnesses only
  • A helper for brake-light and reverse-light testing

Remove the original tail lights

  1. Remove the trunk tie-down rings and threshold panel: Open the hatch and use a 10mm socket to remove the two cargo tie-down D-rings. Pull the center plastic threshold panel straight upward to release its retaining clips, then remove the panel from the trunk opening.

  2. Access and disconnect the outer tail light harnesses: Use a trim removal tool to release the clips securing the felt trunk liner. Pull the liner away from the body to expose the factory tail light wiring, then disconnect the connector. The driver-side harness is green, and the passenger-side harness is identified by yellow tape.

  3. Remove the outer tail light trim and mounting bolts: Use a pry tool to remove the small trim cover beside the outer tail light. Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts securing the outer tail light assembly.

  4. Release and remove the outer tail lights: Apply several layers of masking tape to the tail light lens and leave enough tape extended to form a pulling handle. Pull the tape firmly toward the rear of the vehicle until the locating pins release, then carefully remove the outer tail light without contacting the surrounding paint.

  6. Disconnect and remove the inner tail lights: Disconnect the red electrical connector from each inner tail light. Use a 10mm socket to remove the three retaining nuts while supporting the light, then carefully push the assembly outward and remove it from the hatch.

Install the RIGNOX tail lights

  1. Route the turn signal adapter wire through the rubber grommet: Detach the rubber wiring grommet connecting the hatch to the vehicle body. Use fish tape or a borescope cable to guide the turn signal wire from the hatch, through the rubber boot, and down into the C-pillar area. Fully reseat and seal the rubber grommet after routing the wire to prevent water intrusion.

  2. Connect and install the inner LED tail lights: Identify the external power plug, internal power plug, turn signal adapter, and fog light adapter using the wiring diagram. Connect the supplied harnesses and routed adapter wires to the new inner tail lights, making sure each connector is fully seated. Position the lights in the hatch and reinstall the three 10mm retaining nuts.

  3. Connect and position the outer LED tail lights: Pass the new outer tail light wiring harness through the opening in the vehicle body. Connect the resistor if one is included with the product, then connect the main wiring plug and applicable adapter. Align the guide pins with the original mounting holes and press the outer tail light firmly into position.

  4. Reinstall and secure the outer tail lights: Pull the wiring harness completely through the body opening and arrange it so that it will not be pinched behind the light. Reinstall and tighten the two 10mm mounting bolts, then reinstall the small side trim cover.

  5. Test all lighting functions and complete the reassembly: Before fully securing the remaining interior trim panels, test the running lights, brake lights, turn signals, reverse lights, and any sequential or startup functions included with the tail lights. Confirm that both sides operate correctly, then reinstall the felt trunk liners, upper hatch trim panel, center threshold panel, retaining clips, and cargo tie-down D-rings.

Electrical and function test

  1. Confirm running/parking lights on both sides.
  2. Confirm brake lights with a helper pressing the brake pedal.
  3. Confirm left and right turn signals, hazards, and sequential behavior where supported.
  4. Confirm reverse lights with the vehicle safely in reverse and the parking brake applied.
  5. Confirm startup animation or RGB/app functions only after normal road-light functions pass.
  6. Check for dashboard warnings, hyperflash, flicker, or intermittent operation before reinstalling final trim.

Final check

  • All connectors are locked, dry, and routed without tension.
  • Included modules or extra harnesses are secured away from heat, water paths, moving parts, and sharp edges.
  • All four lamps sit flush with even body gaps and properly seated seals.
  • All supported lighting functions pass on both sides.
  • No warning lights, flicker, hyperflash, abnormal heat, moisture issue, or loose wiring remains after a short check drive.

Troubleshooting

  • One lamp does not turn on: Recheck the main connector lock, related fuse, and battery connection.
  • One function does not work: Compare the plug area to the product reference images and verify the connector is fully seated.
  • Warning message, flicker, or hyperflash: Confirm the correct product variant was installed and that any included decoder, resistor, or relay is connected and secured.
  • Moisture appears: Light condensation right after installation is normal and usually clears within about a week of regular driving as the lamp warms up. If water collects inside or the moisture doesn't clear, contact RIGNOX support.

After the Install

Fast-blinking turn signals after the swap is a load issue, not a fault, and more likely if the headlights are LED too: what to check first.

A thin mist inside the lens after a cold night is normal on any vented lamp: the automaker rule for fog vs a real leak.

Running a smoked lens and wondering about inspection? What every state actually requires.
