Before you begin

  • Vehicle/product: 2021-2023 Ford F-150 LED Dual Projector Headlights | Switchback DRL.
  • SKU check: Confirm your kit SKU or variant matches H-F150-21-HAL, H-F150-21-LED before removing original parts.
  • Reference-first workflow: Review the installation reference images on this page before removing trim or connecting wiring. This guide includes confirmed details from the available reference text and images.
  • Power and safety: Switch the vehicle off before unplugging connectors. Disconnect the negative battery terminal when handling wiring, fuse taps, or exposed circuits.
  • Protect the vehicle: Use clean towels or masking tape around painted panels and trim edges. Do not force clips or pry against painted surfaces.
  • No connector grease: Do not apply dielectric grease or weather-sealing grease to connectors or sockets.
  • Headlight note: Keep bumper and liner hardware organized by position, and leave access open until the beam and DRL tests pass.

Reference image checkpoints

  • Connector layout: Compare the vehicle connector count, pin count, and adapter harness shown in the reference images before plugging in the RIGNOX headlight.
  • Trim level differences: If the reference images show low, mid, high, halogen, LED, or ACC differences, match the page that corresponds to your vehicle before powering the lamp.
  • Harness routing: Route DRL, turn-signal, decoder, fuse-tap, or adapter harnesses exactly along the path shown. Keep wiring away from sharp bumper brackets, radiator support edges, and hot components.
  • Beam adjustment: Identify the vertical and horizontal adjusters before the bumper is fully reinstalled so beam aim can be corrected after testing.
  • RGB/app variants: Confirm controller power, pairing, mode change, and local road-lighting use before final trim reassembly.

Confirmed reference details

  • Low/mid/high configurations: The reference separates low, mid, and high trim configurations. Match your vehicle connector before installation.
  • Low trim adapter: The low trim setup is shown with an adapter plug. When that adapter plug is removed, the reference identifies a 6-pin connector.
  • Mid/high connector: The mid/high connector is shown with 13 pins. Do not connect the low-trim adapter to a mid/high vehicle.
  • ACC wire note: The reference states ACC is used on the mid configuration and is not needed on the high configuration.

Tools and supplies

  • Trim removal tool or panel clip tool
  • Metric socket and ratchet set; confirm the exact socket sizes against the reference images before removal
  • Phillips and flat screwdrivers
  • Clean microfiber towels and masking tape for painted bumper and fender edges
  • Electrical tape and zip ties for securing included harnesses only
  • A wall or flat vertical surface for beam-pattern checking after installation
  • A helper for brake, turn, high-beam, and low-beam testing

Electrical and beam test

  1. Test low beams, high beams, DRL, parking/position lights, left and right turn signals, hazards, side markers if equipped, and startup animation if equipped.
  2. Confirm there is no flicker, warning message, hyperflash, or inactive side.
  3. If a fuse-tap or ACC harness is shown, confirm it is seated in the correct fuse position and secured before closing the fuse box.
  4. Check beam aim against a flat wall and adjust vertical/horizontal aimers as needed before final bumper reassembly.
  5. For RGB/app variants, confirm controller power, app pairing, normal mode, RGB mode, speed/brightness controls, and the mode required for road use.
  6. After all tests pass, reinstall bumper covers, liners, clips, and trim panels.

Final check

  • All connectors are fully seated and locked.
  • All included harnesses are secured away from movement, sharp edges, water paths, and heat sources.
  • Headlight beams are aimed correctly and both sides sit with even bumper and fender gaps.
  • All headlights functions test correctly on both sides with a helper operating the controls.
  • No warning lights, hyperflash, flickering, abnormal heat, moisture entry, or loose modules remain after a short function check.

Troubleshooting

  • One headlight does not turn on: Recheck the main connector, adapter harness, fuse tap if used, and ground connection shown in the reference images.
  • DRL or turn signal does not work: Confirm the DRL/turn harness or ACC connection matches the vehicle trim shown in the reference images.
  • Warning, flicker, or hyperflash appears: Recheck any decoder, resistor, or trim-specific adapter before adding universal parts.
  • Beam pattern is too high, low, or uneven: Re-seat the lamp, confirm all retainers are tight, then adjust vertical and horizontal aimers.
  • RGB/app feature does not respond: Confirm the product variant supports RGB, the controller has power, and the app or remote is paired before closing trim.
